Story line

Amazing.

The story line of this anime is just mind blowing; with an unpredictable ending, you will certainly go ‘wow’ at the end. This anime is about a boy called  Kōichi Sakakibara who moves to Yomiyama, a small countryside town, transferring to a new school. He gets put into a sinister class, which holds a deep and unsettling history, finding himself in the middle of a gruesome mystery involving the students of class three and others who are related. According to the sayings, this ongoing phenomenon is the cause of senseless deaths, brought upon these people. This story follows Koichi and his search for the truth behind this peculiar class and the cure to stop this phenomenon: in upon doing so, he also meets a girl called Misaki Mei, who seemingly appears to be invisible to everyone else, except for him.

As I said, the ending and the answers to the mystery of this anime is just unpredictable- although the first few episodes of this anime are quite boring, once you get into the story, you just have to keep on watching till you find out what happens. Nevertheless, it is guaranteed that every episode will leave you in the midst of some sort of curiosity. After watching each episode, you will at least have one question remaining in your head like “what does he mean by ‘……’?” or “I don’t get it, why did that happen?” or at least “OMG, what will happen next….?” . These questions will drive you to move forward and click on the next episode and continue watching the series because you will discover that it is actually so GOOD (at least that’s how I felt when watching Another).

Genres

This anime covers mainly the genres of mystery and horror (well duh, this anime practically has a freakin’ blood bath in every episode!). Though I did mention a ‘boy meets girl’ thing in the story, it’s not what you think it is. Yup, no time for romance in this anime- NO. TIME.

Around the last few episodes, I think this anime also covers the genre of thriller- if you watch it you’ll see what I mean. You’ll think that the deaths of the people are only caused by one thing but the last few episodes it’s kind of caused by the kids themselves, though this anime genuinely revolves around the idea of a cursed-like death sort of thing, so I guess that’s where horror comes in. Of course, the mystery genre is obviously caused by the main character’s confusion of what is really going on and what is the whole story and of course, how to stop this thing that’s going on.

Although this anime mainly focuses on the themes of death there are also some bits that I think is worth a laugh. Like for example, when Koichi was having a daydream in the middle of class (i laughed a lot at that bit (>_>) (<_<) ).

Characters

Koichi Sakakibara

I’m not really going to expand how his character is like but I mainly think at the beginning, when i was watching this anime, that he should listen to the people around him and not just go off on his own way just to uncover and solve his confusion and curiosity. However, i guess ignoring everyone’s warnings and continuing to talk with Mei might have been one of the reasons why the phenomenon is solved and why he’s still alive.

Mei Misaki

At the very beginning I thought that Mei is really scary and weird and sinister but once I got to know her and her past, I really felt sorry for her, though I think that she really is a strong girl, having to live like that every day (even think that she’s a forever alone but I doubt it, considering she has met Koichi (>.>) but don’t get me wrong, it’s not like this anime is a romance one- as I said, no time for that. (But you know what I mean- eventually, there HAS to be some sort of romance on her life *cough, cough “Koichi” *)).

So that’s a small review of Another, if you love horro, especially mystery, you will love this anime. It is amazing. i really recommend it and I hope you (whoever you may be) enjoy watching it.

Actually, scrap that- you will enjoy watching it.

One of the best story lines…

Code Geass….

There are many animes that has good story lines in general but I think Code Geass holds the first place in my ranking of which anime has the best story line. One of the key features which makes the anime so interesting is the amount of twists it has in it. Not only that, the anime is also combined with many other key features such as action, drama, the graphics are good and a bit of side line romance (if you count the one between Euphemia and Suzaku). Although some key characters die in the story, I guess that’s a part of what makes it interesting.

This anime is mainly about obtaining justice in the midst of war and over ruling. it is also about worst case scenarios and evil taking over, half of the time. There are a lot of mecha battles and action which also includes a lot of battle startegies and statistics. Although it sounds a bit boyish, I guarantee that it has an amazing story plot and even i, as a girl, enjoyed it.

I’d suggest this anime to those whole love action and mecha. I guess those who love mystery would find it quite interesting due to the story plot, although there are no mysteries involved. Romance lovers, wouldn’t find it quite as interesting- though there is a bit of romance involved but I think if you’re a romance lover, you’d find yourself heart broken if you watch this anime (mainly because of Suzaku and Euphemia, I think).

Here’s a link to the trailer:

BTW-

Although there are some naked scenes, it isn’t hentai or anything- there are just a bit of naked scenes.

Sword Art Online

I have recently finished watching Sword Art Online and it was AWESOME! The story line and action was beautiful, included with a heat of romance. The graphics were also well done which contributed a lot to the action scenes. The characters were very well thought of, as well.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————

The anime is mainly set inside the world of gaming- a virtual world that is accessible through a console called the “Nerve Gear”. The Nerve Gear enables you to enter the virtual game world as if you were there right there and then. As you can imagine, the concept is pretty awesome.  The virtual world that the main character, Kirito, enters is called Sword Art online, a VRMMORPG (virtual reality massively multiplayer online role playing game). The goal of the game is to complete all 100 floors by defeating the “boss” of each floor.

With the expectation of entering a whole new, unique world, many gamers bought the game, however only to find themselves trapped in the game by the maker of SAO. Their only way out is by completing all floors, however, death, in both the game and reality, can be obtained by either dying in the game or if someone from the real world took off their Nerve Gear.

ALFheim Online

On the other hand, the excitement only really begins later in the anime as Kirito clears the game for himself, and for the other surviving gamers except for his partner, Asuna, who he fell in love with and married in the game. As he returns to the real world, Asuna remains in a hospital bed, still with the nerve gear. His new aim is then to log Asuna out of the virtual world and he does this as he discovers a new game where Asuna is transferred called ALFheim online. Asuna resides on the top of the “World Tree” in the game, prisoned by the game’s controller, Sugou Nobuyoki, who arranged a marriage with Asuna. ALFheim is a game where you are a fairy- it has 10 different races. The World Tree is in the middle of the world and is the tallest matter there is in that world, going beyond the range of the fairies’ flight. Kirito then ventures into the game, aiming to set Asuna free.

Characters

Kirito (Kirigaya Kazuto)

Kirito is an AWESOME character- he is very strong in the game and also very kind. He is very affectionate to his comrades in the game as he experiences many occurrences of death, especially within the parties/groups that he joins. He eventually goes alone due tot his thought.

Asuna (Yuuki Asuna)

Asuna is a beautiful girl who is one also one of the strongest players in the game, SAO. She has both tough and sweet personalities  and sometimes, she can display a hint of a tsundere personality. She is also an amazing cook.

Leafa (Kirigaya Suguha)

Leafa doesn’t appear until later in the anime 9around episode 15). She doesn’t appear in the game of SAO but she appears in ALFheim.  It’s then found out that she is played by Kirigaya Suguha, who is Kirito’s cousin. Likewise, she is also strong and tough though kind and caring at the same time.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————

In my opinion, I think that the anime is very good, including its plot however i think it would be even better if there was a twist to it. Furthermore, I think that the romance between Kirito and Asuna is a little rushed- the anime would have more to it if their relationship developed slowly, although the story is already good- I just thought that it would be better that way.

On the other hand, the action scenes are a phenomenon! The idea of a VRMMORPG is fantastic in  itself. It  is one of the main things that make this anime amazing.
